Overview
AAA Industrial Services was engaged to deliver one of the largest and most complex emergency spill responses in Australia. This critical project addressed widespread contamination across Brisbane Airport's sewer mains, creeks, stormwater systems, and natural environments.
The scale and scope of the project required meticulous planning, seamless coordination, and the rapid mobilisation of specialised resources to contain and manage approximately 16 million litres of contaminated water across multiple impacted zones.
AAA worked 24/7, with dedicated crews split across multiple yards and an on-call team on standby to respond to weather events and unforeseen challenges.
The project encompassed:
Deployment of 650+ ISO tanks (23kl each) staged across six self-contained sites, set up to handle emergency response and bulk transfer operations.
Operation of 15 vacuum tankers and additional heavy vehicles to remove, transport, and transfer contaminated product.
Utilisation of earthmoving equipment (6t–30t excavators and skid steer loaders) to clear contaminated materials from creeks, soil, and impacted assets.
Traffic management solutions with full-time teams ensuring safety and efficiency across multiple operational zones.
Hydrostatic testing, isolation, and flushing of 6km of sewer mains using a patented solvent/caustic flush to ensure all assets were restored to operational capacity.
